Portrait

II like to work with a lot of color, hands and characteristic faces when I draw or paint a portrait. Because of my past as a make-up artist, I have a good aptitude for shaping faces and I can translate someone's face into a lot of similarity to the canvas.

This requires a lot of time and concentration so I don't work with live models but with photos as a reference.

If you want to have a portrait made of someone, don't hesitate and contact me!

Brainstorm

Can't choose between abstract and figurative? That is not necessary at all. With this painting you have the best of both worlds. Nothing is completely black or completely white and that is exactly what this painting is about. The gray area, nothing can be viewed from one side and it is precisely those differences that come together in life that make it beautiful. Immerse yourself in the world around you, gain inspiration, be open to ideas and create a real brainstorm.

Guilty

This painting is of a man with his face in his hands. I think he looks like he's super guilty of something. It could also be that he is thinking or reminiscing about something.

As a viewer of this work of art, you keep wondering about this and that elusive nature makes the work interesting.

In terms of painting technique, I consciously chose to work out the jacket less. This will draw your gaze to the face. The transition of the head into nothingness also makes it extra dreamy and gives strength to the emotion.

2 Faced

This painting is made up of two different images on top of each other. It stands for the different sides a person can have. Because you do not understand who you are looking at right now, you keep looking.

Herman

Here I made a portrait at the art academy, in the 4th grade,  of Herman den Blijker. In this painting I experimented with the background color. The pistachio green was new to me and leaves the colors that I often work with; purple, blue, orange and brown extra beautiful and fresh.

Seeking Sun

The emphasis in this painting is on the colors. Red, purple, brown, actually all warm colors are on my pallet as a favorite and I have therefore very gratefully incorporated them. As a counterpart, the background is blue and purple, these cool shades act as contrast, making the face really stand out.

This painting owes its name to the fact that I made it in the spring and caught myself in the same position as the model when catching the first rays of the sun.

Hollywood

This painting was made on the basis of an image from a 9 mm film. By filming with this old-fashioned material you get an interesting division of the surface precisely because of the poorer quality.

I called this painting Hollywood because it reminds me of an actress who goes out on a warm summer evening with a sultry look;)

Colorful Toughts

This painting was made on the basis of an image from a 9 mm film. By filming with this old-fashioned material you get an interesting division of the surface precisely because of the poorer quality.

What makes this portrait special are the hues in the hair and the expression on her face. The girl's thoughts are not easy to place but are filled in by the use of color.
